Sunrisers Hyderabad won the toss and asked Royals to bat first. Yashasvi Jaiswal got out cheaply but after that Jos Buttler and Sanju Samson rebuilt the innings. Buttler brought up his first fifty of this season and then went on to smash all Sunrisers bowlers and his marathon knock of 124 runs helped Royals to post a big total of 220/3 in 20 overs.
In reply Sunrisers Hyderabad’s openers Jonny Bairstow and Manish Pandey started well as both added 60 odd runs in first 7 overs. In the middle overs Rajasthan Royals bowlers especially Chris Morris and Mustafizur Rahman bowled well and put Hyderabad’s batsmen under pressure and because of that they threw their wickets and eventually they finished on 165/8 in 20 overs.
