The Royal Challengers have been an unlucky side in the Indian Premier League history. They have featured in 3 IPL finals, 2009 against Deccan Chargers, 2011 against Chennai Super Kings, and 2016 against Sunrisers Hyderabad and lost them all. In the phase 1 of the IPL 2021, they have been impressive and with 5 wins in 7 matches, they have a good amount of chance of qualifying for the play-offs. The tournament was postponed due to COVID pandemic and there will be changes to the original squad for the team due to the scheduled T20 World Cup and international series, and personal reasons of the players.
