IPL 2021: Rajasthan Royals’ Liam Livingstone doubt for UAE leg after suffering a shoulder injury in County game

The second phase of the IPL 2021 is set to commence from 19th September in UAE. While the excitement for the remaining phase of the tournament is at the top level, disappointed to has played his part as many star players are not available for the second part of the cash-rich league. Some players have suffered injuries, while some have pulled themselves out of the tournament, leaving franchises in all sorts of trouble. Even though some franchises have named replacements but the fans will miss their favourite overseas players.

Rajasthan Royals’ Liam Livingstone doubtful for UAE-leg 

With less than one month remaining for the start for the second phase of IPL 2021, Rajasthan Royals is likely to suffer a major blow as star English batter Liam Livingstone has injured himself in the County Championship and is doubtful for the UAE leg of the marquee tournament.

The hard-hitting batsman while playing for Lancashire in a Division 1 match of the County Championship against Warwickshire tried to save the boundary for his team but in the process ended up hurting his shoulder and was subsequently taken off the field. Though there’s no official update about Livingstone after the injury but it is almost certain that English star will miss some days of cricketing action.

If his injury is believed to be serious, the Sanju Samson-led franchise will have a major blow as Livingstone’s recent form in T20 cricket is touching new heights. In the recently concluded series against Pakistan, he notched up the fastest hundred for England and if this was not enough, the right-handed batsman was named the most valuable player in The Hundred as he amassed 348 runs in nine innings with a staggering average of 58 and an impressive strike rate of 178.46.

IPL 2021: Rajasthan Royals injury woes

Amongst all the teams Rajasthan Royals’ is the most affected team as all the star players including Jos Buttler, Jofra Archer and Ben Stokes will not be part of the second phase of the tournament. Even though the Sanju Samson-led franchise has named replacements, but the void left by the premier English player would be hard to fill and if Liam Livingstone is ruled out of the tournament, it would be very hard for the Rajasthan based franchise to qualify for the playoffs as in seven matches they have won only 3 matches and are placed fifth on the points table.
