MS Dhoni’s run out against MI during IPL 2019 final
The final of the IPL 2019 between Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings went down the wire with Rohit Sharma-led side emerging victorious by 1 run and lifting the cup for the fourth time but the summit clash was marred with the controversy related to CSK skipper MS Dhoni’s runout.
During CSK’s run chase, the match was evenly poised when skipper MS Dhoni came to bat. In the 13th over the wicketkeeper-batsman pushed delivery to the fielder at mid-off and ran through for a quick single. Ishan Kishan, who was fielding, executed a direct hit and it seemed that MI has got the prized scalp. The on-field umpires immediately asked for assistance from third umpire Nigel Llong, who gave the result in the favour of Mumbai. However, the thing that stirred controversy was a visual from the game that showed Dhoni’s bat in the safe zone before the ball could hit the stumps.
