The clash – Multiply Titans vs Cape Cobras
The Duckworth–Lewis method has a long history with South African Cricket, having tormented this nation at the biggest stage in the cricket world. Right from the start of their incorporation into Cricket at the 1992 World Cup, to the 2003 and 2015 iterations of Cricket’s showpiece event, every cricket loving Proteas is familiar with this particular way of solving the mythical relations between rain, overs and the target.
DELAY: It's dry skies but flashes of lighting mean the players have to make their way off the field.
Before the interruption through, opening pair Cloete (46*) and Breetzke (11*) guided the Warriors to 60-0 after 6 overs. The target 200 (18 overs). #TTNvWAR #T20Challenge

Though it was only a domestic match, indeed Multiply Titans must have been left with a feeling of utter devastation when rain poured down, stopping the play and robbing them of a win.
In the opening game, Titans posted a formidable score of 216 on board, thanks to the blistering 74 runs from right-handed Batsman Theunis de Bruyn. While Grant Thompson and captain Farhaan Behardien had a blast at the end of the innings, combining for a whopping 61 of just 26 balls.
In reply, the Warriors raced to 60 for none in just six overs, and it was then when the dark clouds popped over Supersport Park.
The heavens kept the flood open, and via the D/L method, Warriors were ahead on par scores and were handed the win.
It indeed was a hit too harsh on Titans. The mere 6-overs can’t really be an indicator of where the match would have ended. But still, these are the facets of the game which remains out of everybody’s hands.
The Titans have the chance now to put their season back on track as they search for their maiden victory in CSA T20 Challenge 2019. Assistant coach Mandla Mashimbyi is confident that his team was a better team in the first game and can definitely bounce back in the next match.
“There were definitely a lot of positives to take out of that game apart from the rain,” Mashimbyi said. “It was sad the way it ended, but that was out of our control.”
RESULT: Disappointingly rain brings a premature end to the opening match of the CSA #T20Challenge.

“We probably controlled 85 to 90 percent of the game, except for those few overs they batted. But everyone is upbeat, it’s early days and we look forward to bouncing back in Benoni.”
While Cape Cobras had to rely on their talent for their season-opening win against bizhub Highveld Lions.
Requiring 26 runs from the last two overs, Lions hit 18 runs of Cobras’ captain Rory Kleinveldt’s 19th over to come within 8 runs from gaining an unlikely victory in the last over. But those runs came at a cost as two set batsmen, in the shape of Temba Bavuma and Wihan Lubbe, lost their wickets while looking to hit boundaries on every ball.
But Lions were in the driving seat nonetheless, with 5 wickets in hand, and needing just 8 runs from the final over.
However, fast bowler Dane Paterson conceded just 2 runs in the final over to steal a five-run win for Cobras.
NEWS | The magnificent death-over bowling of @DanePaterson44 was not the only positive factor of the @WorldSportsBet Cape Cobras’ inspirational 5-run win against the bizhub Highveld Lions on Sunday.
