After registering 60 runs win in the first ODI, hosts Sri Lanka would be eyeing another win when they rehost Ireland at Hambantota tomorrow for the second unofficial ODI. Both the sides will then move to Colombo for the remaining three encounters scheduled on 24th, 26th and 29th January respectively.

After winning the toss, Ireland elected to field first and invited the host to set the target. Riding on centuries from Avishka Fernando (128 of 120) and Milinda Siriwardana (111* of 75), Sri Lanka posted a massive total of  365 runs at the loss of the five wickets on the board. For the visitors, P Chase and  S Thomson were the picks of bowlers returning with two wickets each.

In response, Ireland got bowled out for 305 in 48.2 overs, falling short by 60 runs despite a well constructed century from wicketkeeper batter L Tucker (109 of 86). Opener J Shannon (67 of 67)  also contributed well with the bat but no support form the other batters resulted in the loss. Ishan Jayaratne was the pick of bowlers for Sri Lanka finishing at 3-39.

With the kind of performances in the first ODI, another good contest is expected to take place tomorrow.
