After it was revealed that Chandigarh will be playing in the Vijay Hazare Trophy as an independent team for the very first time in the history of Indian domestic cricket, a lot of players had to decide who to represent in the tournament.

As a result, Punjab have lost some key players to Chandigarh. Manan Vohra is the biggest name missing from Punjab’s squad after he decided to change his base to Chandigarh, while Uday Kaul and Barinder Sran are the other two high-profile players opting to represent the Union territory in the tournament.

But Punjab is still a good outfit and can beat any team on their day. Shubman Gill, who has been named as a reserve opener for India’s home test series against South Africa, is in the squad and will play at least the first two games.

Mandeep Singh will be captaining Punjab in the tournament, with all-rounder Gurkeerat Singh Mann serving as his deputy.
