They will be locking horns with Perth Scorchers who went down by 4 wickets in their opening encounter against Melbourne Renegades. This is not the first time Scorchers have faced defeat in their opening encounter. In eight season so far, Scorchers have encountered six defeats in their opening game. However, the more interesting thing is that the win marked the Melbourne Renegades’ first-ever win over the Perth Scorchers in their nine head to head encounters since the BBL’s inception.

Renegades won the toss and invited Scorchers to set the target. M Klinger (28 of 32) was the top scorer from Scorchers and helped his side post a low total of 103 runs. Kane Richardson and D Christian bagged three wickets each and were the pick of bowlers from Renegades. Coming to chase, Renegades chased down the target in 15.2 overs with 4 wickets in hand, courtesy Sam Harper (36 of 25) and M Nabi (35 of 27). The only good thing for Scorchers was the economical spells from N Coulter Nile (2-22) and J Behrendorff (2-17).

Sydney Sixers have named a 13-man squad ahead of the clash and look all set to kick-start their journey with a win. The new signing Josh Philippe who is set to don gloves for Sixers is excited for the opening clash with his former club- Perth Scorchers. Moises Henriques, Dan Hughes, Jack Edwards, Jordan Silk are the ones responsible for setting a good total on the board while Sean Abbott, Ben Dwarshuis, Tom Curran will lead the bowling attack for Sixers.
