Pakistan locks horns against New Zealand in the 5th match of the five-match ODI Series at National Cricket Stadium, Karachi on 7th May, Sunday at 4:00 PM IST.
After winning the fourth ODI, Pakistan is now the number 1 ranked side in the ODI format, they’ve achieved this feat for the first time in history, and it’s the start of good things to come for them. Another dominant performance from the hosts, riding on the skipper’s century, Pakistan put up a big total on the board.
Babar Azam and Agha Salman laid the foundation and then Shaheen Afridi and Mohammed Haris powered them to 334. With the ball, they had Usama Mir who spun a web and picked up 4 wickets in the game and Mohammed Wasim equally contributed to that victory with 3 wickets.
New Zealand wasn’t at their best while bowling and batting. They let Pakistan off the hook plenty of time in this game. Only Matt Henry looked like getting a wicket every time he ran in during his spells. Ben Lister on his debut impressed a bit.
During the run chase, they lost a couple of early wickets but Tom Latham scored a gritty 60 off 76 balls and Mark Chapman too scored a promising 46 but once they fell, New Zealand lost their way and got bowled out for 232

National Stadium Pitch Report
The pitch in Karachi is a suitable one for the batters. The bowlers have very little to work with, hence there is very little margin for error, and they’ll go for plenty if they failed to be disciplined. Teams winning the toss will look to chase as the pitch will stay true throughout.
In the last game, it showed that the pitch holds true for most part of it but the bowlers have plenty to work with. Pakistan ensured they build the innings with not much offer for bowlers but there’s plenty in it under the lights as New Zealand felt a big tough batting under those conditions. 10 wickets were picked up by pacers while spinners scalped 5 wickets.
