CAN vs USA Dream11 Match Preview
With just two places up for grabs in the ICC T20 World Cup 2020, there is no or little room for error for the teams aiming to reach Australia next winter.
The stakes are high for both the United States of America and Canada as these two sides meet in ICC T20 World Cup Americas’ Regional Final.
Match Schedule:
- Teams: USA and Canada
- Ground: White Hill Field, Sandys Parish, Hamilton, Bermuda
- Match Timing: August 22, 12:00 AM (IST)
Format:
The 2020 T20 World Cup will be a 12-team event, with the top 10 ranked teams getting an automatic qualification. While the two teams from the qualifying rounds will join the big teams in Australia at the end of this year.
How are these two teams holding up?
Canada and the United States of America are placed in a group of four teams, alongside Bermuda and Cayman Islands. The top placed team at the end of the regional qualifier will earn a ticket to ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Qualifier set to be held in the UAE.
Canada are currently leading the group, though, the USA are just 1 point behind in 3rd.
CAN vs USA Fantasy Team News:
No injury concerns for either team ahead of their next game. Both the teams are at full strength and will be choosing players from the 14-man squad named by both camps for the tournament.
Squads:
United States of America-
Saurabh Netravalkar, Steven Taylor, Timroy Allen, Cameron Gannon, Aaron Jones, Karima Gore, Muhammad Ali Khan, Jaskaran Malhotra, Xavier Marshall, Monank Patel, Nisarg Patel, Timil Patel, Jasdeep Singh, Hayden Walsh Jr.

Expected changes:
USA: We don’t see them flirting with the side which won by 10 runs against the Cayman Islands in the last game. Head coach Pubudu Dassanayake is expected to go with the same playing 11 as the last one.
Canada:
Canada’s head coach Gus Logie made only one change to his side in the last game.
The player missing out was Junaid Siddiqui. It was harsh on the bowler considering he gave away just 10 runs from 4 overs.
Saad Bin Zafar replaced him in the starting 11 and should be in the team here as well.
In addition, the game was washed out, and that’s why the elevens from the last game may again take the field against the USA.

Fantasy picks from the United States of America-
Jaskaran Malhotra: The Punjab-born opener has a decent average of 22.50 in the T20 matches. Though his strike rate in this form of Cricket isn’t what you expect from the opener, the 29-year-old still remains a solid Batsman and hardly throws away his wicket.
T20 record:
- Games: 04
- Runs: 90
- Average: 22.50
- High score: 38 (In this tournament)
Steven Taylor: Arguably, the most dangerous Batsman in this team. He was out on the 1st ball in the last game, but the 25-year-old is somebody who needs not more than half a dozen balls to get going. Worth considering.
T20 record:
- Games: 04
- Innings: 04
- Runs: 138
- Strike-Rate: 136
- Average: 34.50
- High score: 72
Aaron Jones: Lower order Bastman. Tasked with the acceleration at the back end of the innings in this team. Can bowl a bit and is in good form.
Last innings:
- Balls: 29
- Runs: 39
- 4s and 6s: 02 and 02
Fantasy picks from Canada-
Ravinderpal Singh: The only player to hit a century in this tournament. And it was not just another T20 innings, for his destroyed every bowler, hitting the ball in the area he wanted.
Last innings:
- Balls: 48
- Runs: 101
- 4s and 6s: 06 and 10
Rodrigo Thomas: With three +50 scores in the last 7 innings, the 24-year-old is definitely high on confidence heading into this match. He opens the innings, which makes him a good option in your Dream11 team.
More options from Canada:
- Romesh Eranga
