But, experienced campaigners in Kapp (38), van Niekerk (33) and du Preez (16) ensured that the target was achieved without any further hiccup; highlighting the insipid batting expert that the Lankans had displayed.

Their opponents in Bangladesh have had a similar campaign thus far. Lacklustre batting efforts have seen them go down to defending champions Windies (by 60 runs) in the first game and then to England by seven wickets by seven wickets with for of their batters registering a duck.

With two losses in as many games, tomorrow’s encounter is a must-win game for Bangladesh while Sri Lanka, who have points against their name courtesy a washout against England will be looking to hit the straps as far as their batting is concerned and the likes of Athapaththu, Hasini Perera and Siriwardene will have to play a pivotal role to reverse their fortunes.
