Having put in to bat first, Australia posted 277-7 on the board with the help of the fifties from Usman Khawaja (62), Glenn Maxwell (98) and Alex Carey (55). For Pakistan, M Hasnain, Imad Wasim and Yasir Shah returned with two wickets each.

In reply, Pakistan managed 271-8 in the allotted overs, falling short by 6 runs despite centuries from Abid Ali (112) and  M Rizwan (104). Nathan Coulter-Nile finishing at 3-53 and Marcus Stoinis returning with two wickets were the pick of bowlers for Australia.

Ahead of the fifth ODI, both the sides are dealing with a couple of injury concerns. Jhye Richardson has been ruled out of the series following a shoulder injury. Pat Cummins, who was rested for the last two games, is still in Dubai after J Behrendorff got ruled out of fourth ODI due to an illness. On the other side, Pakistan has to undergo two last-minute changes in the likes of Abid Ali and Shad Ali. Imam Ul Haq missed out the fourth ODI due to high fever while Shoaib Malik suffered a rib injury. Their availability in the fifth ODI will be disclosed at the time of toss.
