With an eye on CWC 2019, both Australia and Pakistan gear up to fine tune their combinations in the five-match ODI series starting today in UAE. Both the teams will lock horns at Sharjah Cricket Association Stadium, Sharjah in the evening for the series opener. The second ODI will be played at the same venue on March 24 while the third ODI is scheduled to be played at Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi on March 27, Wednesday. The final two ODIs will be played at Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai on March 29 and 31 respectively.

The Kangaroos would be looking to carry their momentum forward. They had a wonderful outing against India – 2-0 clean sweep in T20Is and 3-2 ODI series win. Players like Usman Khawaja, Peter Handscomb, Pat Cummins and Ashton Turner grabbed the opportunity with open hands in India and were among the leading players for the side in ODI series. They would be eyeing to carry their good run in UAE too.

On the other side, Pakistan has rested a couple of mainstays along with the regular skipper and veteran Shoaib Malik will be leading the side this time. They have named eight changes in total to the squad that faced 3-2 drubbing at the hands of South Africa. Umar Akmal and Yasir Shah are the two names who have been included after their impressive run in the recently concluded PSL 219. While the 15 names travelling to England are almost certain, it will be interesting to watch if someone from this series can get a direct ticket to England.
