The English skipper was the only batsman from his side to cross 50+ runs in the first innings of the first Test match of the ongoing series against India and in the process, he also became the all-time highest run-scorer for his nation across the formats, surpassing Sir Alastair Cook’s tally of 15,737 runs.

However, during India’s last tour to England in 2018, the Indian skipper had a fantastic outing with the bat and replied to all the critics in style amassing 593 runs from 10 innings at an average of 59.30. Notably, James Anderson failed to dismiss Virat Kohli single time during that tour.
The English pace spearhead James Anderson lauded Indian skipper Virat Kohli said that the right-hander has a big influence on the team both as a skipper and a batsman. He expressed his excitement for the face-off against ‘one of the best in the world’ and admitted that it is not important that he only gets his wicket, anybody else in the team can too.
“He always wants to play big against the bowlers and it’s great to face that challenge. I know he has a big influence on the team, both as a captain and as a batsman. Really excited for the face-off and challenge against one of the best in the world and I don’t mind if I take his wicket or somebody else does. Excited for the face-off,” said James Anderson while addressing the press conference before the opening Test.
