Jasprit Bumrah over the years has evolved as one of the finest fast bowlers India has ever produced. The pacer has cemented his place in the national setup and is skipper Virat Kohli’s go-to bowler in all formats of the game.
Ever since making his debut in 2016, the Indian pacer spearhead has become a match-winner for Virat Kohli led the side and is currently the leader of the Indian bowling attack even in the presence of senior pacers like Mohammad Shami and Ishant Sharma.
Jasprit Bumrah on the cusp of breaking Kapil Dev’s record of fastest to 100 Test wickets
So far, Jasprit Bumrah has been in a top notch-form in the ongoing Test series against England. The right-arm pacer took 9 wickets in the first Test match including a five-wicket haul in the second innings at Trent Bridge.

The Mumbai Indians pacer then carried his form to the Lord’s, where he displayed great all-around skills to help India register a 151-run victory. The pacer scored crucial 34* runs with the bat and stitched an important 89 runs partnership with Mohammad Shami to help Virat Kohli-led side post a fighting total. With the ball, he then scalped three wickets including the wicket of English skipper Joe Root.
The ace Indian pacer, however, has 95 wickets in 22 games and can become the fastest pacer from the nation to reach 100 Test wickets, surpassing Kapil Dev, who achieved the milestone in 25 matches. If Jasprit Bumrah manages to take 100 scalps he would also go past the likes of Manoj Prabhakar (96 Test wickets) and Venkatesh Prasad (95 Test wickets).

What Virat Kohli said after the win at Lord’s?
The Indian skipper Virat Kohli was super proud of his team after a 151-runs victory over England. He admitted that tension in the field helped them to come back hard. The 32-year-old added that even though he was part of the Test team that won at Lord’s but this victory was special as they bowled out the opposition just under 60 overs.
“Super proud of the whole team. The way we stuck to our plans after being put in. The pitch didn’t offer much in the first three days. The first day was the most challenging. The way we played in the second innings after being put under pressure – Jasprit and Shami were outstanding. We had the belief we can get them out in 60 overs. The tension in the field in our second innings, what happened there, helped us. Have been a part of the winning Test last time under MS. That was pretty special. But this one, to get a result in 60 overs is quite special. We decided 60 is our mark” he said.
