IND vs ENG: Day 3 Review
England finished day 3 with a lead of 27 runs thanks to heroics from captain Joe Root. To anchor England’s innings, Root played a flawless innings, hammering 18 fours to finish unbeaten on 180. The England captain put up a crucial 121-run stand with Jonny Bairstow before adding 54 and 58 runs with Jos Buttler and Moeen Ali.

The hosts were dismissed for 391 when Mohammed Shami knocked out James Anderson’s stumps on the final ball of the day. Earlier in the match, England scored 97 and 98 runs in the first two periods, highlighting the Indian bowling attack’s predicament.
The wicket did appear good for batting; the edges were not carrying as it lost some pace. With a free-scoring Root looking untroubled, Indian bowlers had to toil hard in the first session. Ishant Sharma and Mohammed Siraj shone with the ball to pull India back into the game. They took three and four wickets, respectively.
