R Ashwin’s unique feat
R Ashwin is arguably one of the best spinners India have ever produced. The senior Indian player is no mug with the bat as well. The Tamil Nadu born off-spinner has scored 2685 runs in 79 Tests with the help of 5 centuries.
In the upcoming five-Test series against England, the Indian all-rounder is on the verge of completing 3000 runs in Test cricket as he needs only 315 runs to achieve the feat. If he reaches the milestone he can go pass Syed Kirmani (2759) and MAK Pataudi (2793) and is just 30 runs away to complete 1000 runs in Tests against England.
With ball R Ashwin would be eyeing 21 wickets in the series against England as he is fourth in the list of India’s leading wicket-takers with 413 wickets behind Anil Kumble (619), Kapil Dev (434), and Harbhajan Singh (417). If the veteran off-spinner manages to take 21 wickets he would be second on the list of India’s leading wicket-taker and also needs 12 wickets to bag 100 scalps against England.
