After being bundled out for just 198 runs Michael Vaughan-led side had a tough day on the field as the visitors were 266 runs ahead after the last recognised batsman fell in form of VVS Laxman. When Zaheer Khan came into bat English players decided to play a prank and threw jelly beans on the wicket. As he cleaned them up and played his next ball, there were some more of the stuff.
Zaheer, who felt insulted with what the Englishmen were doing, had a big argument with Kevin Pietersen afterwards. The home team, who were hoping to put Zaheer Khan off his game, but ended up galvanizing him to perform even better. He followed this incident with a 5-wicket haul in the second innings to break the hosts’ batting spine, and giving India a win by 7 wickets to pick up their first Test series victory in England after 21 years.
