The second Test match between England and India kickstarted earlier today at the Lord’s cricket ground. After losing yet another toss and being asked to bat first, the Virat Kohli-led side had a great start to the Test match as the openers once again shined and gave the team a solid opening start. However, the hosts team gained a bit of momentum after James Anderson removed Rohit Sharma, who was nearing his century, and Cheteshwar Pujara just at the stroke of lunch.
Rohit Sharma, Cheteshwar Pujara fall, KL Rahul still strong
After early Lunch on the Day 1, Team India started the second session on high as well. Openers Rohit Sharma and Kl Rahul continued their red hot form and gave their team a dream start at Lord’s cricket ground, raising the century opening stand for Virat Kohli-led side, first outside Asia since 2010.

However, the 126-run opening stand between the duo was broken by talismanic pacer James Anderson when he produced a peach of a delivery to dismiss Rohit Sharma. The wicket of senior Indian opener brought Cheteshwar Pujara to the crease, who continued his poor form and was dismissed for only 9 runs . On the other hand, KL Rahul is still going strong and scored his second half-century of the series. At tea on Day 1, the visitors are 157/3 with skipper Virat Kohli along with Rahul at the crease.

Senior Indian opener Rohit Sharma looked a class apart in the ongoing second Test match between England and India at Lord’s cricket ground. The right-handed batsman showed great resilience and composure and paved his way through the half-century.

Just when the Mumbai Indians skipper looked set for his first overseas Test hundred, a snorter from James Anderson saw Rohit Sharma back in the dressing room for 84 runs. The English pacer produced a moment of brilliance and bowled an in-swinging delivery to castle Sharma’s defence in the 44th over of the Indian innings.
