After the Indian tail wagged up to help Virat Kohli-led side post a respectable target, bowlers on the other hand made sure that visitors continue to remain on the top of the game.
Bowlers get India off the flyer at Lord’s
After declaring the innings on 298/8, Team India got off the flyer with the ball. A fired-up Jasprit Bumrah removed Rory Burns for a duck in the very first over of the 4th innings. His new-ball partner Mohammad Shami made sure that visitors continue to be on the top of their game by dismissing Dom Sibley in the second over for a four-ball duck.

Things got even worse for England when Ishant Sharma trapped Haseeb Hameed in LBW for 9 runs in 16th over and then followed it with a wicket of Jonny Bairstow on the last ball of the session to make sure that India finish post-lunch session on high. Now the onus lies once again on skipper Joe Root to save the game for the hosts.
At Tea on Day 5, the hosts are 205 runs away from the target and are 67/4 with skipper Joe Root unbeaten at the crease on 33.

After taking early Indian wickets on Day 5, everyone expected Joe Root-led side to assert their authority. However, Mohammad Shami and Jasprit Bumrah put on a record ninth-wicket partnership for India on the fifth day at Lord’s cricket ground.
The duo produced a phenomenal effort and caught England off guard, stitching 89 runs partnership in just 120 balls to take India to 298/8 before Indian captain Virat Kohli decided to declare the innings. While Shami scored a half-century putting on display a quality stroke play Bumrah was at his defensive best for his unbeaten 34 runs to frustrate the hosts. Their performances amidst a crucial time have helped India to post a challenging target for the Joe Root-led side.
