Every ardent Indian cricket fan will never forget the massacre Yuvraj Singh forged in Durban against England at the 2007 World T20. Those six sixes off Stuart Broad still remains one of the most phenomenal achievements in the history of Indian cricket.

However, after 13 long years, the swashbuckling left-hander finally revealed what provoked him to take on a young Stuart Broad in that over. In a live chat session with Aaj Tak’s Vikrant Gupta, the 38-year old revealed that he had a witty argument against all-rounder Andrew Flintoff prior to Stuart Broad’s over which pumped him up.

‘I will cut your throat off’ Flintoff to Yuvraj Singh

Recalling the incident, Yuvraj Singh told Vikrant Gupta that while he was walking to the non-striker’s end, at that time Flintoff said something that was below the belt and definitely unacceptable. He said;

“I had hit Flintoff for two boundaries on good deliveries and he did not like it. And after that over when I was walking to the other end. I can’t repeat exactly what he said. He told me that those were some ridiculous shots. So I asked him what did he say and had a confrontation,”

Flintoff was fumed that Yuvraj took his good deliveries easily and said, ‘I will cut your throat off’. In reply, Yuvraj said, ‘You see this bat in my hand. Do you know where I am gonna hit you with this bat?’

The umpire had to interrupt the heat

The heat between the two was fuming and things were getting dirty. The umpire had to intervene between the two to calm things. At that very moment, Yuvraj decided to send every ball sailing.

“So the umpire interrupted us but I was very pumped after that argument and I had decided that I have to send every ball out of the park now. Luckily it was my day,”
