Youngest player in IPL – There’s no denying the fact that the Indian Premier League (IPL) has provided the platform for many youngsters to make their name and make their presence felt on the global stage.

While some failed, many set the stage on fire and even went on to make debut for the national side. They now have become the mainstay for their country in cricket. The likes of Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya, Ishan Kishan, Mohammed Siraj are some of the products of IPL that are now the mainstays of Indian setup.
IPL no doubt is one of the main reasons for the change in Indian cricket. The league gives such exposure to the players that when they represent the nation on the big stage they have no nerves playing in front of huge crowds in international cricket.

1. Prayas Ray Barman
Not many may have heard the name of Prayas Ray Barman. But the Bengal cricketer has been the youngest player to make his debut in the Indian Premier League (IPL). It was during the IPL 2019 when Prayas Ray Barman debuted for Royal Challengers Bangalore against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
He wore RCB colours on the field when he was 16 years and 152 days old but failed to set the stage on fire as he was very expensive, conceding 56 runs from 4 overs. Prayas Ray Barman played only one match in IPL since then he went unsold in the auction.

2. Mujeeb Ur Rahman
The second-youngest player in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is Afghanistan’s talismanic spinner Mujeeb Ur Rahman. The spin-sensation from Afghanistan made his debut for Punjab Kings (then Kings XI Punjab) in IPL 2018 against Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals).
The mystery spinner made his at the age of 17 years and 11 days and impressed everyone with his skills. Mujeeb had a phenomenal debut season in IPL as he took 14 wickets from 11 matches and after playing for Punjab Kings till 2020, he donned Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in IPL 2021.

3. Riyan Parag
With huge expectations under his name and known for his talent, Riyan Parag is the third-youngest player to make his debut in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Having made his name in the Indian U-19 cricket, Parag made his debut in the tournament for Rajasthan Royals in the IPL 2019 against Chennai Super Kings.
He made his debut when he was 17 years and 152 days old. Since then he has been an integral part of the Rajasthan Royals and has played 30 matches in the IPL, scoring 339 runs at a strike rate of 118.53. With the ball, he also had taken 3 wickets.
4. Sarfaraz Khan
One of the consistent run-scorer in domestic cricket Sarfraz Khan is the fourth on the list of the youngest players in the IPL. The right-hander batters his debut for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in IPL 2015 against Chennai Super Kings (CSK). After having a poor outing in his debut match, he proved his mettle after two games, where he scored 45 runs off 21 balls.
Sarfaraz made his debut when he was 17 years and 177 days old. His stint with RCB ended after IPL 2017 as he then joined Punjab Kings. The right-hander in a total of 40 IPL games so far has scored 441 runs at a staggering strike rate of 138.4. With IPL 2022 auction set to take place in a few months, he’s expected to attract a lot of buyers.
5. Abhishek Sharma
Hailing from Punjab, Abhishek Sharma is the fifth-youngest player to make his debut in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The southpaw made his debut for Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in IPL 2018 and impressed everyone as he smashed a brutal 46-run knock in just 19 deliverers to announce his arrival on the grand stage.
Abhishek made his debut when he was 17 years and 251 days old and since then he has only risen in ranks. After playing two seasons with Delhi Capitals he was traded to Sunrisers Hyderabad and displayed great all-round skills. So far in 22 IPL games, the left-hander has scored 241 runs at a strike rate of 139.31. He has also picked 7 wickets in the tournament at an economy of 8.0.
