WTC Final: Monty Panesar has become more active on social media these days and he seems to be following in the footsteps of Michael Vaughan.
Vaughan has taken a special liking to Indian cricket, albeit in a negative way. Every now and then, the former England captain gives his opinion on the happenings of cricket in India, often making controversial quotes and statements -all to get traction on social media and to remain relevant in the world of cricket.
And now it seems as if Monty Panesar has taken a cue or two from what Vaughan does these days, for the former England spinner is also saying something these days, ahead of the IND vs NZ WTC Final, untoward in every way, that should hurt the Indian cricket fans.
WTC Final: Monty Panesar Mocks Rohit Sharma
During an interview given to Sports Yaari, Monty Panesar draws a comparison between Indian superstar batsman Rohit Sharma and New Zealand captain and Mr Consistent Kane Williamson.
Rohit Sharma To Replace Virat Kohli As Captain?
Panesar said that Williamson is a better batsman than Rohit, but also admitted that Virat Kohli surpasses both Kane and Rohit when it comes to consistency and performance.
“I think both are extremely good. Both can steady the team in any situation. If you look at T20Is and ODIs, Virat Kohli is the best chaser. But Kane Williamson plays equally well in all three formats. I think his level is above Rohit Sharma but a little below Virat Kohli. If Kane was an Indian, he would probably be an ideal replacement for Ajinkya Rahane in the Test batting line-up,” said Monty.
IND vs NZ WTC Final:
There’s no doubt about Kane Williamson’s ability. He has done wonders in the world off cricket, but so has Rohit Sharma.
Both batsman are set to run into each other when India play against New Zealand in the IND vs NZ WTC Final match starting from August 18. This is a one-off game and the team winning it will be crowned the inaugural World Test Championship final champion.
