Windies series important for Dhoni: Former India captain

The five-match ODI series between India and Windies might seem to be a low key affair for some fans and cricketers but former Indian cricket captain Saurav Ganguly believes that this series is important for Indian wicket-keeper MS Dhoni.
Ganguly feels Dhoni will do well in the world cup
The Indian wicket-keeper is going through a lean patch with the bat in the recent times and his failure to finish the games for India has made a lot of cricket analysts and fans question his place in the team. However, few days back, chairman of selectors MK Prasad made it clear that they are looking at Dhoni as the first-choice wicket-keeper and Saurav Ganguly too believes that he will do well in the 2019 world cup.
While speaking with a news agency, the former India captain admitted that he is not sure about what team combination the team management is looking at but he is sure that Dhoni will do well in the World Cup. At the same time he observed that this ODI series against West Indies is a big series for him.

Ganguly reminds everyone that Dhoni’s overall record is very good
The former left-hand batsman reminded everyone that the Indian wicket-keeper’s overall record is very good and he believes that Dhoni will do well in the world cup in England. However, he explained that the selection of India’s squad for the world cup depends on how the players perform going ahead to the World Cup. He stressed on the fact that it is about scoring runs. And he feels that this is why Rishabh Pant has been given a chance.

The world Cup will be competitive: GangulyÂ
Ganguly feels that India are a good ODI side and this World Cup will be worth watching. But when asked about the favourites, he said that it will be a competitive one.
