One of the biggest surprises of this year’s IPL was the below-par performance of the Chennai Super Kings. This had raised serious questions regarding the future of the franchise and most importantly the future of many of their senior players. The most prominent question among that was whether the CSK captain MS Dhoni will make himself available for the next season or whether he will hung his boots just like what he did with his international career earlier this August.
MS Dhoni clarifies the doubt regarding his IPL 2021 availability
As he came into toss the coin ahead of the match between CSK and KXIP, commentator Danny Morrison asked MS Dhoni a very important question that many of the MSD fans were quite eager to get an answer to. He directly asked Dhoni if this match would be his last IPL match. Dhoni like his usual self smiled and gave a much-needed reply to Morrison.
“Will this be your last game in Yellow?” asked Morrison.
“Definitely not my last game in yellow” replied Dhoni.

This has come in as the best possible news for CSK fans in 2020. Earlier the CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan had also confirmed that Dhoni will be leading the franchise in 2021 as well.
“Yes, definitely. I am very confident that Dhoni will lead CSK in 2021. He has won three titles for us in the IPL. This is the first year we have not qualified for the playoffs. No other team has done that. One bad year does not mean we will have to change everything,” Viswanathan told TOI.
CSK ends KXIP’s playoffs dreams
This match between CSK and KXIP was an all-important match for KXIP to get into the playoffs. But as expected, CSK played spoilsport and ended the chances of Kings XI. They thereby joined CSK to be the 2nd team to be knocked out of IPL 2020. CSK chased down the 154 run target set by the Kings XI Punjab quite comfortably. Young Ruturaj Gaikwad starred with the bat with a well placed 62 from 49 balls.
