We will back Rahul says batting coach Sanjay Bangar

KL Rahul’s lean patch in the current Test series against Windies has raised some eyebrows however Team India’s batting coach Sanjay Bangar isn’t worried yet. Infact he stated that the team management will back Rahul as he is capable of winning matches.

Bangar says Rahul is working hard on his issues 

Bangar was speaking with the media during the second Test between India and Windies. When asked about Rahul’s dismissal in the second Test, he said that it was probably a fourth stump ball he was looking to leave it. He admitted that the Indian opener has had issues with balls coming into him but he also explained that Rahul is really working hard.

The former India cricketer noted that batsmen tend to think a lot about away going balls and at times forget to concentrate about straighter balls or which generally pitch on stump line. He revealed that those are things they are working on. According to Bangar, if the Indian opener gets out after passing 20 or 25, then it is more serious cause of concern.

At the same time the Indian batting coach praised Rahul. He pointed out that the right-hand batsman is somebody who is part of all other formats as well, so Bangar thinks that from a team management’s point of view they will back players who are capable of winning matches and who are impact players for the team and who can change the course of a match.

Bangar reminds everyone of Rahul’s contributions in the past 

The former India cricketer stated that you need to look at where the player is and you need to keep an eye on the future. He reminded everyone that whatever runs Rahul has scored for the Indian team, his contributions have come overseas and his contributions even in India has come in tougher times.

He further added that in the  series against Australia which probably was the most hard-fought series in the domestic calendar in the last couple of years, the Indian opener was very consistent so he believes that he has got a long career ahead of him.
