SA Playing 11: Two dangerous T20 teams in world cricket, West Indies and South Africa will be up against each other in the start of a 5-match T20I series here at Grenada. SA are on a high after clinching the Test series. A win here in the T20Is will give them enormous confidence with T20 World Cup to be held later this year. The Proteas lead the head-to-head record between these two teams 6-4. With a full strength side at disposal, they will be eager to start the series on a positive note.
Skipper Temba Bavuma has been declared fit for T20Is after missing the Test series. Dwaine Pretorius has been ruled out of the series after he contracted Covid-19. Wiaan Mulder has replaced him in the squad.
SA Playing 11 (likely)
Quinton de Kock (wk)
Aiden Markram
Temba Bavuma (C)
Rassie van der Dussen
David Miller
Heinrich Klaasen
Andile Phehlukwayo
George Linde
Kagiso Rabada
Anrich Nortje
Tabraiz Shamsi
The top order looks solid with Bavuma returning to the side. SA will hope de Kock fires at the top to give them a flying start. Markram had a terrific T20 series against Pakistan. With Miller and van der Dussen, the middle order looks experienced and powerful. South Africa’s fast bowlers are in good form. With explosive batters like Gayle, Pollard and Russell in the opposition, Rabada and Nortje will have their task cut out.
