Indian wicket-keeper batter and Delhi Capitals skipper Rishabh Pant won’t be taking part in IPL 2023. Rishabh met with an unfortunate road accident back in December 2022 and his recovery time is expected to be more than an year. It is certainly a big blow for the Delhi Capitals franchise to miss their skipper for the upcoming season.

Why is Rishabh Pant not playing IPL 2023? As mentioned above, Rishabh Pant’s horrific car accident in December 2022 will keep him at bay for the upcoming IPL season. Rishabh Pant’s absence will leave a vacuum in Delhi Capitals camp as they are looking to put up a better show then last year where they failed to make it to the playoffs. In the absence of Rishabh, it is expected that Sarfaraz Kham will don the wicket-keeping gloves behind the wickets.
David Warner named captain
Australian veteran opener David Warner has been named Delhi Capitals skipper for the upcoming IPL season. Warner is an IPL winning captain as he led Sunrisers Hyderabad to the elusive title in the 2016 edition. The swashbuckling left-hander knows how to win big games and tournament, and he is definitely an apt choice for captaincy.
Warner was the vice-captain for Delhi Capitals in IPL 2022. His appointment as the skipper doesn’t came as a surprise. The team management has bestowed their trust on all-rounder Axar Patel who is named as the deputy of David Warner. This is the first time when Axar Patel has been named as the vice-captain of any team in the IPL.
