Prasidh Krishna, the fast bowler who made a name for himself in the Indian Premier League (IPL), has unfortunately been ruled out of the upcoming season due to a lumbar stress fracture. The injury has forced him to undergo surgery, which will require him to take an extended break from the game.
Why is Prasidh Krishna not playing IPL 2023?
Krishna was picked up for INR 10 Crores in the 2022 IPL season. He had a fruitful 2022 IPL season with the Rajasthan Royals, where he played a significant role in the team’s run to the final. His tally of 19 wickets in 17 matches helped the Royals reach the final for the first time since 2008. However, his absence in the upcoming season will be a significant blow to the Royals’ campaign.
Krishna’s journey in the IPL began with the Kolkata Knight Riders in 2018. The pacer has since played 51 matches, picking up 49 wickets at an average of over 34. His skill set, which includes a sharp bouncer and a deceptive slower ball, has made him an effective bowler in the shortest format of the game. The Royals will have to look for alternative options to fill the void left by the talented pacer
No replacement named so far
The Rajasthan Royals team management is on the lookout for a replacement of the Karnataka born pacer. However, Punjab’s pacer Sandeep Sharma was seen in the practice session at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. It is believed that Sharma might be named as an official replacement for Krishna.
