BAN vs IND 1st ODI: The first Test between Bangladesh and India was an enthralling contest. It went down to the last day as both the teams produced magnificent effort but at the end it was KL Rahul-led, who batted and bowled brilliantly to clinch the game on the final day and take 1-0 lead in the series.

Stand-in Indian skipper KL Rahul won the toss but his decision didn’t pay off as the visitors struggled in the first innings and were left tottering at 48/3. Rishabh Pant then played a quick knock of 46 runs to give his side the boost. After that Cheteshwar Pujara (90) and Shreyas Iyer (86) batted beautifully to bail their side out of trouble.
A decent lower-order partnership by R Ashwin (58) and Kuldeep Yadav (40) in the end helped India post a total of 404 runs on the board. Taijul Islam and Mehidy Hasan took four wickets each and were the pick of the bowlers for their side.
India then bowled staggeringly well and on account of Kuldeep Yadav’s five-wicket haul they bundled out the hosts for just 151 runs. They then didn’t enforce follow on and centuries by Shubman Gill (110) and Cheteshwar Pujara (102*) powered them to the total of 258 runs, setting a target of 513 runs.
Chasing the target, Bangladesh openers Zakir Hasan (100) and Najmul Hossain Shanto (67) made Indian bowlers look clueless and batted solidly at the top for their 124 runs for the opening partnership. But Indian bowlers kept chipping in at regular intervals and reduced the opposition to 272/6 and are just 4 wickets away from the win.
With 241 runs and 4 wickets needed to win the game on Day 5, Mohammed Siraj drew the first blood for his side and removed Mehidy Hasan for 13 runs before Kuldeep Yadav chipped in to send back Shakib Al Hasan for 84 runs and Ebadot Hussain for a duck. Axar Patel then took the last wicket for his side in Taijul Islam to win the game for his side by a massive margin of 188 runs.

Indian spinner Kuldeep Yadav was awarded Player of the Match in the first Test against Bangladesh. The chinaman bowler had brilliant game with both bat as well as the ball. He first scored crucial 40 runs with the bat and then went on to take five-wicket haul in the first innings. His impressive show with the bowl continues even in second innings as he took 3 wickets to help India win the match. Notably, this was his first match in 22 months.
