Who is India’s fastest bowler: India’s budding generation of fast bowler’s bowl with serious gas. It is no longer the case when India had to rely on their world class spinners for wickets both in home and away from home. In the past year or so, one bowler who has impressed one and all thoroughly with his lethal pace is none other than Umran Malik.
Who is India’s fastest bowler? The answer is- Umran Malik
Umran Malik is one such bowler who has taken the world by storm with his extreme pace. Spotted by Sunrisers Hyderabad during the 2021 IPL in the UAE leg, Umran came into the SRH squad as a net bowler, but his intimidating pace impressed the then SRH skipper Kane Williamson and coaching staff who ensured that the paceman from Jammu makes his IPL debut in the later stages of the tournament against KKR.
He played the final three games for SRH in 2021 and scalped 2 wickets. Irrespective of his numbers, it was his intimidating pace which hurried every batter and from the next season, he was one of the pacers to watch out in the tournament. After making a glimpse of an appearance in the 2021 IPL, Umran returned in the next edition with 22 scalps from 14 matches and emerged as the leading wicket-taker for SRH.
Umran Malik Fastest ball
A Jammu & Kashmir prodigy, Umran Malik holds the record of bowling the fastest ball by an Indian in competitive cricket. Working alongside one of the greatest pacers ever to play the game Dale Steyn, Umran was consistently bowling over 150 Kmph. It was the match against Delhi Capitals at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai in the 2022 IPL where Umran clocked 157 Kmph which is still the fastest ball bowled by an Indian.
157 Kmph was the fastest ball of the IPL 2022 season until the final match of the season where Gujarat Titans’ Lockie Ferguson scaled 157.3 Kmph, which eventually ended up as the fastest ball bowled in the 2022 IPL.
