Watch : Virat Kohli’s struggle continues as Trent Boult bounces him out in 2nd innings of Wellington Test

Team India didn’t turn up for the first test match at Basin Reserve and New Zealand were the victorious by a comfortable margin. This was the first defeat for India in the ongoing World Test Championship cycle.
Virat Kohli’s dismissal pumped the hosts up
On the last tour to New Zealand in 2014, Neil Wagner was responsible for getting Kohli out 3 times with his back of the length bowling. This time around, in the absence of Neil Wagner in the first test, Trent Boult did something similar in the 2nd innings.
Virat Kohli was trying to build the Indian innings after the massive deficit in the first dig. He was doing well until a delivery from Trent Boult hurried him on and he tried to pull the ball which was too close to the body. As a result, he edged it straight to BJ Watling behind down the leg side. Hard lengths paid off again for New Zealand against India’s best batsman. Virat Kohli needs to pull up the socks very quickly as Neil Wagner will be ready to go come the second match of the series.

New Zealand go 1-0 up with a massive win
All eyes were on Ajinkya Rahane and Hanuma Vihari at the start of 4th day to give India a respectable total against the hosts. But Tim Southee and Trent Boult ran rout with early morning freshness to bundle India out for 191 in the second innings. Rishabh Pant tried to hit some useful runs at the end but could not last long as India set a target of 9 runs to New Zealand. Kiwi openers completed the formalities in 2nd over to gain crucial 60 points in WTC table.
