India thrashed Sri Lankans to take 1-0 lead
After being asked to bat first, Sri Lankan innings never got going in excellent batting conditions at Indore. Navdeep Saini and Shardul Thakur were the star performers for the hosts. Sri Lanka was restricted to 142 for the loss of 9 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Jasprit Bumrah impressed on his comeback after an injury lay off.
In reply, Shikhar Dhawan and KL Rahul started steadily before the latter took the attack to the Sri Lankan bowling lineup. Shreyas Iyer and Virat Kohli applied the finishing touches to the chase and India won the match comfortably in 17.3 overs with losing only 3 wickets. Wanindu Hasaranga was the only shining light for the tourists among other disappointments.
