India Pakistan rivalry is one of the unmatched sporting rivalries on the cricket field. There have been many battles on the field with each country having a better day once and the other coming up on top the next day. The Ashes rivalry is the oldest existing cricket rivalry between cricket inventors England against Australia.
But the mere competitiveness , the neighborhood historical partitions, the political tensions between the two governments and the various battles between the two armies of the nation has all added spice to the on field competition between India and Pakistan. This rivalry is beyond just sport.
‘India weren’t our rivals those days’
Former Pakistani world cup winning captain Imran khan and current prime minister of the nation has stirred up a debate with a controversial statement.
I used to feel sorry for the Indian team because we beat them so often. They were under a lot of pressure. When I used to go to toss with their captain, I’d look at his face & he would be looking scared. Our rivals in those days weren’t India
According to Mr. Prime Minister, India were not even their rivals of Pakistan during his playing days as India used to be in a lot of pressure. This is a rather demeaning statement as he has mentioned as if Pakistan were utterly dominant and were winning everything that they played.

The stats for head to head matches
It is a bitter truth for former Pakistani captain to admit that Pakistan have never won against India in a world cup match. The Indians have a clean swipe record of 9-0 in world cups. But looking deep into other bilateral ODI matches and test matches, infact Pakistan have been on the upper hand especially in Imran khan’s playing days.
In 59 Tests between the two , Pakistan have won 12. Similarly, the Men in Green have clinched 73 matches out of the total 132 One-day Internationals between both the nations.
