Watch: Sehwag impressed by Afghan batsman’s helicopter shot in T10 league

Afghanistan cricketer Rashid Khan produced the famous helicopter shot in the T10 league in Sharjah and received a thunderous applaud from the audience including former India cricketer Virender Sehwag.

Rashid whacks Irfan for a stunning six 

Rashid Khan is representing the Maratha Arabians in the T10 league and former opening batsman Virender Sehwag is the captain of this team.

The incident happened in the match between the Maratha Arabians and Pakhtoons. In the eighth over of the innings, Rashid slammed Pakistan bowler Mohammad Irfan for a massive six over mid-wicket. The right-hand batsman covered his stumps and then picked the full-length delivery by using only his wrists. With no footwork, Rashid sent the ball way over the mid-wicket boundary by using his wrists and arms.

This sensational helicopter shot stunned the audience as well as the dug-out of Maratha Arabians. Sehwag who was also sitting in the dug-out was seen clapping and laughing after watching the shot.

The famed helicopter shot is one of MS Dhoni’s unconventional strokes which he unleashes in crunch moments. The power generated for this stroke comes from a quick yet calculated swing of the arms which makes it a difficult shot to execute and hence apart from Dhoni very few batsmen have played it frequently.

But Rashid Khan showed that he too can use the long handle to a good effect as he deposited Irfan for a massive six.

Pakhtoons drub Maratha Arabians

Courtesy of Rashid’s quickfire 20 runs and Najibullah Zadran’s 36 runs, Maratha Arabians scored 125 runs in their 10 overs but the score proved to be inadequate in front of Pakhtoons who reached the target with eight wickets in hand.

Colin Ingram scored 42 not out and Cameron Delport scored 36 runs to steer Pakhtoons home.
