Prithvi Shaw bowled: Australia couldn’t have asked for any better start than this as they knocked off the Indian opener Prithvi Shaw in the very 2nd ball of the 1st over of the game in the day-night test here at Adelaide.
Virat Kohli won the toss and had no hesitation in batting first and Indian openers in the absence of Rohit Sharma were Mayank Agarwal and Prithvi Shaw. It was an important toss to win as the pitch will get worse as the test progresses and the 1st day pitch has its own advantages for the batting team. But, the start India had would be the last thing they would have wanted.
Prithvi Shaw bowled for second ball duck
Amidst a lot of confusions, Prithvi Shaw got the nod ahead of the technically correct batsman in Shubman Gill for the first test but the U19 world cup winning captain didn’t do justice for the trust been shown by the team management on him.
Mitchell Starc was given the new cherry and he responded brilliantly with the wicket in the very 2nd ball of his 1st over where Prithvi Shaw found an inside edge and dragged it into the stumps.

A mountainous task awaits India
Australia have never lost a day-night game since the inception of pink-ball tests. They have a 100% win record winning 7 out of 7 tests so far. They have also won their last 5 games in their home 3 against New Zealand and 2 against Pakistan and have earned themselves a berth in the WTC finals in Lord’s
India need to win at least a game in this series to stay in contention for the WTC final as New Zealand are firmly in contention for the final and have several favorable things going their way. It definitely wont be an easy task for India to even draw a game on this tour and winning a test is a distant dream at this point in time.
