Sachin Tendulkar recently praised Marnus Labuschagne for his batting skills and even went on to say that the Australian reminded him of himself.

Tendulkar had said that Labuschagne’s batting reminded him of himself In 14 Tests so far, Labuschagne has amassed 1459 runs at an average of 63.43 with 4 hundreds The 25-year-old is currently the leading scorer in the ICC World Test Championship.

Marnus Labuschagne said he was “grateful” for the praise he received from cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar last week when the former Indian cricketer said he was reminded of his own batting after watching the Australian pile up runs in Test cricket over the past few months.

“It was pretty amazing, it’s one that definitely when I saw it I was quick to read it and it really hit me. Amazing words from someone of that calibre. I was very grateful for his words and just stoked really,” Labuchagne said to cricket.com.au

Recently Tendulkar Praised Labuchagne

Tendulkar, who played in the Bushfire Bash in Melbourne on Sunday, recently stated that Labuchagne’s batting style resembled that of his and called him a special talent.

“His footwork is so precise. So he would be the one I would say,” said the former India captain when asked which modern-day batsman reminded him of himself.

“I happened to be watching the second Test match (Ashes) at Lord’s between England and Australia. When Steve Smith got injured, I saw Labuschagne’s second innings,” said Tendulkar. “I was sitting with my father-in-law. I saw Marnus get hit off the second ball from Jofra Archer and, post that, the 15 minutes he batted, I said, This player looks special’. There is something about him,” Tendulkar added.

Labuchagne’s recent form is sky high!

Labuschagne smashed 896 runs in five Tests against Pakistan and New Zealand over the home summer. The irrepressible right-handed batsman finished with an average of 112 for the five matches after a double century, two 150s, one century and three half-centuries in eight innings.

In 14 Tests so far he has amassed 1459 runs at an average of 63.43 with 4 hundreds and 8 fifties. The 25-year-old is currently the leading scorer in the ICC World Test Championship with 1249 runs from 9 Tests at a staggering average of 83.26 with four hundreds, 7 fifties and a double century.
