India U19 opening batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal did something during the match what others couldn’t. Yashasvi Jaiswal accounted for Pakistani opener Haider Ali in his first over when India U19 team was in the dire need of a wicket.
Heart of the Matter:
After losing 2 quick wickets in the first 9 overs, Pakistan U19 side found a stable batting partnership in opener Haider Ali and skipper Rohail Nazir. Both batsmen built a partnership of 62 runs and increased the tensions in the Indian camp. Haider Ali also went on to complete his fifty in the process and looked set for a big score.
This partnership forced Indian captain Priyam Garg to look towards his part-time spinner Yashasvi Jaiswal. The move indeed turned out to be a masterstroke as the leg-spinner clinched the wicket of Haider Ali on the 3rd ball of the over itself providing the Indian colts with a much-needed breakthrough. It was also the 26th over of the innings breaking a partnership which lasted for more than 15 overs.
What’s Next?
Pakistan U19 and India U19 teams are currently battling in the Semi-FInal 1 of the Super League in the ICC U19 World Cup 2020. Pakistan U19 are batting first and India U19 will try them to stop to a minimum possible score. Both teams will try to trump each other to earn the bragging rights to compete in the final of the tournament.
