The sporting world is in lockdown as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic which has also led to the suspension of the star-studded Indian Premier League (IPL). The most watched cricketing league in the world was originally scheduled for March 29 which was then later moved onto April 15. However, with things still looking quite grim outdoors, the government of India decided to extend the lockdown.
As a result of the recent circumstances quite a few cricketers are sitting at home and interacting with a live audience on instagram and YouTube, as well taking a few #askmeanything challenge. This time it was New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson who shared some of his fondest memories in the IPL and more particularly the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) camp.
Clearly it was the 2016 edition of the IPL which was quite unique as SRH managed to lift the title that season under the captaincy of David Warner. But Kane Williamson spoke about all the years in general that he spent with his SRH mates as special
Williamson also spoke about the consistency that the SRH unit had from the 2016 season till last season as well, while also talking about the great backing of the support staff that includes Tom Moody, VVS Laxman, Muralitharan and rest.
Williamson on the beauty of the IPL
“It’s been incredibly fun and the opportunity in general to play in IPL without a doubt is the biggest domestic competition in the world.”
Kane Williamson has featured in 41 IPL games and has scored 1302 runs so far with an average of 38.29 and a strike rate of 135.06.
Kane’s next nominations
The Kiwi international has also bagged 12 fifties in the process and has a high score of 89. It was David Warner who had nominated Kane Williamson to share his favourite memories.
With Kane Williamson now nominating Manish Pandey and Khalil Ahmed to shed some light about their best moments in the SRH outfit, it will be interesting to see what the two Indian youngsters have to say.
