There are only a few batsmen in World Cricket who dare to sneak an extra run in if the ball in the hands of Ravindra Jadeja. The Indian all-rounder is one of the best fielders in the world and has one of the quickest arms when it comes throwing the ball. His throws are pretty accurate as well with the ability to knock the stumps off at will. Jimmy Neesham was at the receiving end of Jadeja’s terrific show during the second ODI between India and New Zealand in Auckland.

Neesham’s speed not enough for Jadeja’s rocket throw

The incident took place in the 35th over of the New Zealand innings after Navdeep Saini had bowled his second ball of the over. Ross Taylor nudged the ball slightly and ran for a single while Jimmy Neesham responded to the call and ran towards the striker’s end.

Ravindra Jadeja, who was standing at the point region ran towards to the as soon as he saw the batsmen running for a single. He grabbed the ball while running and threw it towards the stumps. A direct hit on the wicket ensured India that Neesham was sent to the dressing room after his short stay of five balls and three runs. New Zealand failed to get a move on properly after a good start and Jadeja’s accurate throw to dismiss Jadeja was one of the moment which led to the downfall of the New Zealand batting. Taylor takes New Zealand to 273

After this wicket, New Zealand found themselves at 175 for 5. The hosts lost a few more wickets after this and were found struggling badly at 197 for 8 at one point in time. After this, Taylor scored 73 runs off 74 balls while he was supported by the debutant Kyle Jamieson who also scored 24 runs. New Zealand has set a target of 274 runs in front of India to win the second ODI and level the series.

Earlier in the day, Martin Guptill scored 79 runs off 79 balls to give New Zealand a good start with the bat. For India, Ravindra Jadeja bowled a good spell by giving just 35 runs from his 10 overs. He also picked up the wicket of New Zealand captain Tom Latham. Yuzvendra Chahal picked up three wickets while Shardul Thakur picked up two.
