All teams are geared up for the ICC women’s T20 world cup starting in a couple of days down under. Warm-ups matches have also begun to help teams giving final touch to their preparations.
Team India in all good moods
Team India is starting the event as one of the prime contenders for the title along with Australia and England. Before the event, Indian team was seen enjoying their media day in front of camera. This team is quite young and ready to take the world at their feet. Average age of the team is under 23 years which is remarkable if you are following Indian women’s team for the last decade.
Smriti Mandhana told that dressing room is very relaxed ahead of the big event. She added that Indian team is always in joyous mood with inclusion of teens in the setup. Jemimah Rodrigues, Shafali Verma and Richa Ghosh are all set to play critical role India’s campaign this year. “Only Thailand team can give us competition in terms of dressing room atmosphere”, Smriti said, “We love to dance, sing and play some games to influence the team bonding in a positive way”.

India and Australia will be looking horns to kick-off the T20 world cup at Sydney Showground Stadium on Friday. The clash is expected to be a sell-out ahead of the weekend. This whole tournament is set to put down a marker on women’s sports with final taking place at MCG on International women’s day in front of a record crowd in any sports. 10 teams are divided into groups of 5 each with top 2 qualifying for the semi-finals. Notably, men’s event will take place later this year in October.
