The third Test at Trent Bridge in Nottingham saw and exuberating comeback from the Indian team in this ever so crucial encounter where a win is the only way out for the visitors to stay alive in the series. The second Test took off with Joe Root once again winning the toss and asking India to bat first on an overcast day, the decision turned out to be a blunder for the home side as their equations and plans didn’t work out against a much formidable and revamped batting by the openers.
The 60 runs stand for the opening wicket led the foundation for the Indian batsmen to stitch a score which was out of the sights of the England batsmen. After the dismissal of the openers, it was time for the skipper and his deputy to get along and take India out of a sudden disarray which they got in the middle after they were reduced to 82 for 3. The duo put on a scintillating 159 runs stand which put India in an assertive position at the end of day one.
The duo of Virat Kohli and his deputy Ajinkya Rahane got dismissed in the last hour or so with a score of 97 and 81 respectively which meant it was time for the swashbuckling wicket-keeper to make his much-anticipated Test debut. He looked determined and ready to go when he walked into the field and started off his innings in style by hitting Adil Rashid over his head for a six on just the second ball he faced. The last ball of the first day saw the wicket of Hardik Pandya as he edged one beauty of James Anderson to Jos Buttler who was waiting for his second catch of the day at the slips.
The start of the second day saw Ravichandran Ashwin and Rishabh Pant taking the crease in a bid to take the first innings score to a massive one but things did not go their way as Rishabh Pant got unlucky as he inside edged one away swinger from Stuart Broad on to the stumps. Stuart Broad was in no mood to stay calm on his second wicket of the match and had some harsh words to say to the debutant. Watch the video here;

It was a decent knock from the youngster who was dismissed for 24 on his debut Test match that too on the foreign soil and it was seen by his face that he was really disappointed and mulling himself for his false short. The wicket definitely was worth cherishing for the English players as Rishabh was the last batting hope for India and after him, wickets fell in clusters as the visitors could only manage 6 more runs on the board before being eventually dismissed for a total 329.
