Coronavirus has forced the sporting world into an indefinite hiatus and Indian Premier League (IPL) is no exception. In the normal and ideal scenarios, most of us, or the cricket fans to be precise, would have taken the voluntary and unsolicited home confinement, just to enjoy our favourite tournament, and also in some way, reasons to give ourselves a transient escape from the hustle of daily lives.
However, this is a different time. An unforeseen event has affected the whole planet in more ways than we could have imagined. But this period, this phase in our life, also gives an opportunity to cherish the past, and to revisit those memory pools we wouldn’t have dived into in the normal circumstances.
In a twitter post, former Australian Cricketer Matthew Hayden revealed his favourite IPL memory and threw down the gauntlet to Suresh Raina to do the same.
Surprisingly, Raina’s favourite IPL moment was not his particular innings, which he could easily have chosen, for he has many, but he mentioned Hayden’s phenomenal and hair-raising innings of 93 off just 46 balls, and that too from the Mongoose, a new bat with a revolutionary design. Raina captioned:
Beautiful memories of #Yellove & @IPL brother @HaydosTweets . One of my favourite innings with you is CSKvsDD from 2010, where I got your autographed bat which is a very precious part of my collection till date. Here I pass it on to @faf1307 to share his favourite moments of #IPL.

Raina revealed that after than blistering innings against Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals), Hayden gifted his signed infamous Mongoose bat to him, which he will cherish forever.
As you may know, the IPL has been postponed due to the coronavirus threat, but according to reports, BCCI is adamant not to cancel this year’s edition, even if it takes to hold the tournament behind closed doors and without the fans. The way things are moving, even the behind-the-doors tournament looks a distant possibility. But fingers-crossed, we hope things change for the better sooner than later!
