In what turned out to be a low scoring encounter between Jamaica and Guyana, the superman from Jamaica in Andre Russell had a field day out as he finally unleashed in this tournament after disappointing performances in the first two games.
Andre Russell back to his beast mode
Jamaica Tallawahs and Guyana Amazon Warriors locked horns in the 8th match of the world’s biggest party in sports in CPL. The effect of conducting the tournament in the whole of 2 grounds is having a major say as the wicket is detoriating day by day as batsmen are finding it difficult to score freely.
Rovman Powell won the toss and decided to bowl first on a slow wicket which backfired big time eventually. Jamaica were 50 for the loss of 6 wickets chasing 119 and all the onus were on Andre Russell to take his team home which he almost did until the target went out of reach.
Here is the snippet of Andre Russell’s massacre in the game.

Andre Russell was struggling initially in his innings as he scored just 1 run in his first 11 deliveries but scored 56 runs in the last 26 deliveries he faced that included some exquisite shots. In the 18th over of the game, Andre Russell took on the best leg spinner of the competition in Imran Tahir for 17 runs that included 2 massive sixes.
Jamaica Tallawahs off to a bad start
After starting the season with a bang with a win against Darren Sammy’s St Lucia Zouks, they have slumped to 5th place in the points table with 2 back to back defeats. A team consisting full of power-hitters, this was the last expected thing from them. The way they have structured their team has been a big let down so far. They have terribly underused the best hitter in the world cricket at the moment in Andre Russell. They will be looking to improve their performances in this season going forward.
