Delhi Capitals have pulled off a miraculous victory over Rajasthan Royals in their 8th league game in IPL 2020. Their journey in this edition of IPL has been their best in their IPL history ever after first 8 games. They have won 6 games now and are only 2 wins away from earning themselves a playoff spot.
The match had so many memorable moments but one such moment was the one when Ajinkya Rahane managed to save a six in the last over of RR’s innings where RR needed 22 runs for victory.
Ajinkya Rahane’s stupendous effort at boundary line
Ajinkya Rahane who was drafted from Rajasthan Royals to Delhi Capitals in the transfer window prior to auction played his first game for DC after their first 6 games against Mumbai Indians because of injury to Rishabh Pant. As Rishabh Pant is yet to recover, Ajinkya Rahane got his second chance for DC against his former team Rajasthan Royals.
Though he didn’t make an impact with the bat, his brilliant save at the boundary line in the last over turned out to be a game changing moment for DC.
RR needed 22 runs to win the game with the inform Rahul Tewatia at the crease and Shikhar Dhawan, who was the stand in captain in the absence of Shreyas Iyer who got injured while fielding gave the ball to the debutant Tushar Dehspande. The first ball was a wide and the next ball was almost a six if not for Ajinkya Rahane’s acrobatic effort.
Can Shreyas Iyer be back for CSK’s game?
Shreyas Iyer injured his shoulder in the 5th over of RR’s batting innings while fielding and didn’t take part for the rest of the game. It will be a big blow for DC if Shreyas Iyer misses out for the next game as they are already playing without Rishabh Pant and Shimron Hetmyer.
Delhi Capitals will play their next match against Chennai Super Kings at Sharjah on 17th of October.
