After taking an unassailable lead of 3-0 in the five-match series, a confident Indian unit marched in the fourth game in a quest to dig it deep down in the series.
Stand-in skipper Tim Southee won the toss and asked India to have a go with the bat. The visitors have bombarded so far in this series with the bat and once again the same was expected from them.
However, the batsmen never look settled and perished quickly. At one stage they were struggling at 88 for the loss of 6 wickets, but Manish Pandey’s gutsy 50* off 36 deliveries steadied the ship and helped India reach a formidable 165 for the loss of 8 wickets.
After a demeaning show with the bat, the visitors have to do something indifferent with the ball and on the field to remain in the hunt and to set the standard high on the field, no other person could have been better than the skipper himself.
A relay throw from Virat Kohli got better of Colin Munro
Blackcaps opener Colin Munro was thrashing the ball at will and was looking way too good for a big score. None of the bowlers were able to trouble him and a miraculous effort was needed on the field to send the swashbuckling opener packing.
The incredible moment came in the 12th over when a relay throw from Shardul Thakur to Virat Kohli shattered the stumps on the striker’s end. Shardul threw the ball to Virat from deep mid-wicket and the rest was done by the skipper who just hit a bulls-eye on the stumps at the striker’s end.

India struggling to save the match
The Blackcaps were looking in command until the news was written as they stand tall at 130 for the loss of 3 wickets in 15 overs. They needed yet another 36 runs from just 30 deliveries with 7 wickets in hand.
