The Indian team is riding high on confidence after taming New Zealand in the most dramatic manner one could have ever imagined. They not only defeated New Zealand in the third T20I but have also taken an unassailable lead of 3-0 in the five-match series.

The icons of India’s win in the third game were Mohammad Shami who bowled that crucial penultimate over of the second innings, and Rohit Sharma who kept his nerves intact to take India over the finishing line with two lusty blows in the super-over.

Skipper Virat Kohli was awestruck with the effort his boys put on the field and was not behind in mentioning their efforts.

“I thought we were gone at one stage. I told our coach [Ravi Shastri] that they probably deserved to finish the game off with the way Kane [Williamson] batted and the way he led from the front.

“Shami again, showed his experience and put a couple of balls outside the off-stump. On the last ball, we had a discussion and we came to a conclusion that we had to hit the stumps because otherwise there is a single anyway and we are gonna lose the game. Shami went for it, got the wicket and the game turned on its head,” Kohli was quoted as saying during the post-match presentation ceremony.

Showering praise on his deputy, Virat said;

“In the super over, New Zealand again put pressure on us. But Rohit was outstanding today, in the first half and in the super over. We knew, if he gets one hit, the bowler will be under pressure because he is such a clean striker of the cricket ball,” Kohli added.

Virat Kohli now eyeing 5-0 and hinted some changes for the next game

After a mesmerizing effort, Virat Kohli was fascinated for a clean-sweep and also hinted for some changes in the playing eleven for the next game. He said;

“We will try to win [the series] 5-0. There are a couple of guys who are sitting out like Washington Sundar and [Navdeep] Saini, they deserve to get a game. The idea is to win the remaining two games.”

What changes can be expected for the next game

With Kohli hinting the inclusion of Navdeep Saini and Washington Sundar, the team management could drop Shardul Thakur and all-rounder Shivam Dube from the eleven who haven’t fared so far in the series.

Not only Saini and Sundar, the likes of Sanju Samson and Rishabh Pant who are waiting for their chance might get to play in at least one of the next two games.
