U19 World Cup Winning Indian Captain To Play For USA Cricket Team

Unmukt Chand: Former Pakistan batsman Sami Aslam has sent shivers down the spine of Indian cricket after claims that many Indian players have arrived in the USA to play in the Major League. If that’s true, it’s certainly a trend away from what the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has set over the years. It’s not a secret that BCCI doesn’t favour allowing its players to play in the foreign leagues.

As per claims made by Sami Aslam, Unmukt Chand is amongst the contingent that arrived in the United States of America to play in the Major Cricket League.

“30 or 40 foreign players have arrived in America recently. A few former Under-19 Indian players have also arrived, including Unmukt Chand, Smit Patel and Harmeet Singh,” Sami Aslam said.

The news spread like fire in the woods with many media outlets claiming that Unmukt Chand, who is a former U-19 captain, was ‘looking at a career in the USA’.

However, Chand has rubbished the reports and reiterated that he is in the USA only for a ‘leisure trip’.

“I had gone to the USA to visit my relatives, and of course when there, I went for a bat or two — just to practise. I had gone to the training session just because I had come here, but I have done nothing like signing anything in the USA,” Chand was quoted as saying.

“This trip is nothing but a leisure tour,” added Chand.

Sami Aslam also revealed that along with Unmukt Chand, Smit Patel and Harmeet Singh have also arrived in the USA to play in the Major Cricket League.

Sami represented Pakistan in 13 Tests and 4 ODIs before quitting cricket and claimed that he has received calls from 100 of Pakistan’s first-class players who want to come there.
