Indian colts are dominating the ongoing U19 world cup being played at South Africa. India has a tradition of producing high-quality players from U19 structure. Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant, Manish Pandey, KL Rahul, Prithvi Shaw are some of the examples of that U19 factory.
Yashasvi Jaiswal credits Rahul Dravid as his mentor
Young sensation Yashasvi Jaiswal is being termed as the ‘find’ of this world cup. Mumbai southpaw is mesmerizing everyone with his stroke-play. After hitting unbeaten ton to take India home in the semifinal against Pakistan, Yashasvi has credited his success to mentor Rahul Dravid.
Notably, Rahul Dravid was coach of U19 setup till last year before taking the reins of NCA in Bengaluru. Team India won the 2018 edition of the U19 world cup in New Zealand under his mentorship.
Yashasvi added that coach Paras Mhambrey helped the team to take the right mindset into the game against Pakistan. Many of them were experiencing the tension of Ind-Pak game for the very first time in an important semifinal. Paras Mhambrey made them watch the video of Rahul Dravid before the game. Rahul Dravid was quoted by Yashasvi as saying, “Remember that cricket is played in those 22 yards. Just take it like any other game and keep our focus”.

India thrash Pakistan to reach finals
Pakistan elected to bat first after winning the toss on an overcast morning at Potchefstroom. Indian bowlers didn’t allow Pakistan to take the game forward at a decent rate. Ravi Bishnoi struck early to peg Pakistan back significantly. Only Haider Ali and Rohail Nazir were able to resist with respective half-centuries. Shashank Mishra and Kartik Tyagi were impressive again with 3 & 2 scalps.
The target of 173 was never enough for India and Pakistan found that out very early in the chase. Indian openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Divyaansh Saxena took full advantage of the opportunity and constructed the chase beautifully. Divyaansh made unbeaten 59 while Yashasvi reached his ton with last shot against Aamir Ali. India will be playing their 3rd straight final and will be having the opportunity to win 5th title.
