India had an awful start to the highly anticipated Test series against Australia. Indian batsmen had a collective brain fade on day one of the first Test as the visitors lost nine wickets for just 250 runs. However, amidst the despair, one batsman stood tall and produced an epic hundred that saved India the blushes.
Batting at number three, Pujara saw off the new ball and then tried to bring India back in the contest by stitching useful partnerships with Rohit Sharma, Pant and Ashwin.
Pujara and Dravid have got to milestones of 3000 runs, 4000 runs and 5000 Test runs in identical number of innings.

Twitter in awe with Pujara’s masterpiece
Facing a fierce pace artillery of Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood and Patt Cummins, Pujara was the only batsman who looked in control of his innings. He was brilliant against Nathan Lyon as well.
Wonderful wonderful innings from Cheteshwar Pujara. Classy, resilient, tenacious….all these old-world virtues. This was the gold standard of test match batting.

Terrific innings from Pujara or “Steve” as the Yorkshire men called him as they couldn’t pronounce his first name Cheteshwar ! Congrats on a great ? ?

India have a toe in the door. It didn't seem likely in the morning. And that is what Pujara and Rohit and Ashwin have done. But it isn't a total to have a party over.

From 56-4 at lunch to 143-6 is rexovery of sorts, but in the context of batting first on a true pitch, India’s innings is a shambles nonetheless. Pujara showing the discipline and dedication needed in this format, but he’s been the only one #IndiavsAus
